Children’s Complex Care at Home
Specialist care, delivered where children feel most comfortable: at home.
The child and family at the centre
Brooks Health and Care supports enquiries for children and young people aged 0–16 with complex health conditions, helping families explore personalised care in the comfort and familiarity of home.
Every proposed package is assessed against the child’s clinical, personal and developmental needs. Care is agreed only when the appropriate arrangements, staff competencies and professional responsibilities are in place.
Discuss the support your child needs
Tell our team about the care plan and support you are seeking. The assessment can consider requirements relating to:
Clinical care requirements
- Tracheostomy care and management.
- PEG feeding and enteral nutrition support.
- Suctioning and airway management.
- Medication support.
- Monitoring and support for complex health needs.
Everyday care and family life
- Personal care and hygiene.
- Continence care.
- Mobility and positioning.
- Daily routines and activities.
- Support for parents and families.
The activities Brooks can provide are confirmed through assessment and an agreed care package; an enquiry does not guarantee acceptance or the availability of every listed activity.
Coordinated support at home
Where appropriate, planning involves NHS professionals, community nursing teams and other specialists in the child’s care. The aim is consistent support that respects safety, comfort, dignity, development and family routines.
This care-at-home pathway is separate from adult supported living. It does not offer children a place in the Bedford adult supported-living service.
